Stimulants


A gym stimulant is any substance (natural or synthetic) that increases alertness, energy, focus, or physical performance during exercise by stimulating the central nervous system (CNS).

1. Caffeine

  • Source: Coffee, tea, guarana
  • Effect: Increases alertness, energy, and endurance
  • Use: Pre-workout for focus and performance

2. Beta-Alanine

  • Source: Amino acid supplement
  • Effect: Reduces muscle fatigue by buffering lactic acid
  • Note: Often combined with stimulants in pre-workout

3. Yohimbine

  • Source: Bark extract from Yohimbe tree
  • Effect: Boosts energy, may help with fat loss
  • Caution: Can increase heart rate and blood pressure

4. Synephrine (Bitter Orange Extract)

  • Effect: Thermogenic stimulant for energy and fat metabolism
  • Use: Often in fat-burning supplements

5. Theobromine

  • Source: Cocoa
  • Effect: Mild stimulant, improves mood and focus
  • Difference from caffeine: Gentler, longer-lasting energy

6. DMAA (1,3-Dimethylamylamine) (less common, controversial)

  • Effect: Strong stimulant for energy and focus
  • Caution: Banned in many countries due to safety risks

7. L-Citrulline + Caffeine Combos

Effect: Boosts nitric oxide for pumps and energy

  • Use: Pre-workout blends for strength and endurance

8. Guarana

  • Source: Plant extract high in caffeine
  • Effect: Energy, focus, and fat metabolism
